I am 13, almost 14 years old and have just started learning JKD. I have been studying JKD on the internet, although this wasn't very good because 1. There are loads of cheesy martial art instructors on the internet. 2. You can't see what you're doing wrong yourself, you need an instructor to assess and help you achieve things.
I have been physically training my body for around 2 years now, using weights, and also do alot of running, football and sports. I, like Bruce Lee believe that you need to have a good physical body to be effective at martial arts, as that is wear most of your power comes from. There is no point doing martial arts and just learning the theory and being a fat man with no strength or speed in you.
I found out about Dan Wait's Jeet Kune Do through my dad who works with Dan. At first dad said that he teaches some Martial Art which puts alot of other arts together. I didn't think it would be JKD as i knew they are very rare, unlike Karate and Judo. When i found out that it was JKD, i was shocked, i would have never thought that a smallish city like Lincoln would have a JKD institute in. As soon as i found at it was JKD, i went as soon as i could.
